March's birthstones are Bloodstone and Aquamarine
There are traditional birthstones dating back centuries, birthstones with spiritual connotations and mystical birthstones with roots ages ago.
Aquamarine is the "Jewelers' March birthstone".
Bloodstone the traditional birthstone.
Jade the mystical and Amethyst the spiritual birthstone for March.

Colored a dark green w/red speckling and spots, Bloodstone is an excellent grounding, protecting, and healing stone.  It was said that Bloodstone was used as an “audible oracle”.  Today, it heightens intuition and increases creativity.  Bloodstone stimulates dreaming and is a powerful energizer.  If you place it by your bedside in a dish filled with pure water, it will help with restful dream filled sleep.

 Bloodstone calms the mind when needed, clears confusion, and helps with decision making.  It can revitalize a tired mind which is especially helpful if you work too much.  It can reduce irritability, aggressive behavior and impatience with others and yourself.  
"Physically" this stone stimulates the immune system to fight infection.   It helps with the flow of lymph and re-energizes the body and mind when exhausted.  It purifies the blood, detoxifies the liver, intestines, kidneys, spleen, and bladder.  It improves blood circulation, reduces infection.  It has been helpful in cases of leukemia as it works to clean the blood and blood organs by removing toxins.  Ancient Egyptians used it to shrink tumors.
Bloodstone is traced back to the 15th Century.  It's a semi-precious chalcedony with green color and red spots or highlights.
 Legend places the bloodstone (at one time all green) beneath the cross of Jesus when he was crucified. Drops of Jesus' blood splashed on the rock. In honor of Christ, the Lord said that all bloodstone would have red splashes to so that Jesus' sacrifice and crucifixion would always be remembered.
 Bloodstone has been the Ayurvedic birthstone, used in Indian Ayurvedic medicine for the past thousand years.
 Finally, bloodstone appears again in the Zodiac list for Aries for the month beginning on March 21 through April 20.

                                          
Aquamarine is the gemstone that was selected in 1912 by the American National Association of Jewelers to be the official March birthstone.
 It is a brilliant transparent gemstone  the color of the sea, hence the name.
  Ancient mariners believed it provided protection at sea, a belief which evolved to include warriors in battle.
Mystics believed it helped activate and cleanse the throat chakra, and modern mystics believe Aquamarine stimulates your intellectual and reasoning processes.



I've been learning how to set faceted gemstones.
I'll have a set or two each month. 
I have everything up to August so far and in this style to keep it simple.
